What types of gemstones are green?
The most famous stone for its green colour is emerald however there are many other green gemstone options:
-
CHROME TOURMALINE - also known as green tourmaline, this stone offers much better value than the prized emerald because it has excellent clarity, much lower prices and better durability.
-
JADE - a green gemstone with excellent toughness and can even be struck with a hammer without breaking.
-
TSAVORITE GARNET - is an incredibly rare stone that can display a brilliant green sparkle and deep colour with good durability for regular wear. Shop the Lucy Jurado tsavorite silver rings here.
-
GREEN DIAMONDS - are incredibly rare and extremely valuable. You can also seek out irradiated green diamonds which is a type of treatment of diamonds that make this rare colour more accessible at lower prices compared to their natural forms.
-
GREEN SAPPHIRE - are available in a variety of shades of green and generally command lower prices than the classic cornflower blue colour in sapphire due to lower demand. At Lucy Jurado we have some multi-coloured sapphire silver rings with green sapphire.
-
AVENTURINE - is a green variety of quartz that can be good for regular wear with inclusions that create little sparkles.
-
PRASIOLITE - a lighter green variety of quartz than aventurine that is very rarely found in nature but purple quartz can be heat treated to form much more affordable options.
-
CHROME DIOPSIDE - is a remarkably affordable yet rare gemstone. A slightly softer gemstone which suits occasional wear better than for everyday wear.
